On Saturday, July 16th, Oxford Motorcars lead a pack of vintage cars on a summertime cruise down to Rhode Island’s beautiful South County. After having to delay the cruise due to inclement weather, Saturday graced us with clear, sunny skies and that notorious summer heat.
Leading the pack was Oxford mechanic, Jim Egan, in his green 1972 Triumph GT6. Fun Fact: This vehicle was actually Jim’s first car. He has kept it in impeccable condition for over 40 years. Some of the gorgeous vehicles that joined us for the ride down included a 1973 Porsche 914, a 1969 Ford Mustang and a 1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia. Ironically, our head mechanic, Joe Manzi Jr, who brought his 1999 Jaguar Vanden Plas along for the ride (the newest vehicle in the pack) was the only one to suffer a break down. But not to worry, he knew how to handle it.
Our cruise ended at the infamous Aunt Carrie’s restaurant in Narragansett. All of those who took part in the lazy day ride were treated to delicious lobster rolls and stunning beach views. Before the summer ends, we will be sure to come visit again to enjoy some of Rhode Island’s best clam cakes and chowder.
